The next edition of the conference Cybersecurity in utilities was held on January 16, 2020 in Prague, Czech Republic. Current situation in the field of cyber security in the Czech Republic, new energy legislation and the law on cyber security were the main topics of the conference.
Novicom, as one of the main partners of the conference, gave a lecture by František Sobotka entitled "Integration of management and supervision tools for the creation of active SOC, securing the technological network of the electricity distributor".
During this lecture, he first summarized the general facts that most organizations currently have a problem with insufficient staffing resources to ensure cyber security.
"Novicom sees the solution of this situation in the emerging trend of outsourced or holding SOC, which is able to work with resources significantly more effectively," said Mr. Sobotka.
During Novicom´s lecture he explained which tools are suitable for effective connection to SOC (Novicom BVS for onboarding) and why just visibility and detection is not enough. It is necessary to have the ability to react immediately, to control the network environment at any time and protect it from unauthorized access (DDI/NAC). The fact that this is also possible in a technological network environment was demonstrated in a model implementation case of an electricity distributor who chose the Novicom AddNet solution for securing an internal network perimeter in substations.
This year, the conference "Cybersecurity in utilities" attracted 81 listeners who had also the opportunity to ask specific questions to the speakers during the discussion panel.
